May 2019

Len de Graaf was our guest presenter at our May meeting. He showed us many of his yarn paintings in the Huichol style which is an artform of indigenous people from the southwest coast of Mexico.

The sturdy backings are prepared with 6 coats of melted beeswax, The wax is then heated and yarn is embedded into the wax. Len uses a lot of Briggs and Little yarns. Len has even done his yarn painting on gourds.
